Law and justice must serve freedom. Yet true freedom also depends on an internal process through which we cross the boundary of fear and pain. We are all responsible for applying the law to ourselves and to others, and for seeking healthy and balanced relationships.

The family is the main social context in which we must play our part and assume our responsibility: building healthy relationships, bringing more awareness to the way we relate to each other and learning to express our emotions constructively.

I advocate more conscious relationships, bearing in mind that, in the context of family issues, it's important to work on the rights of each party and, in parallel, the emotions and pain that are present. Addressing and working on these two aspects simultaneously enables conflict to be resolved more authentically and effectively.

Understanding one's rights and making decisions with awareness would be the best starting point for a healthy relationship. We can be free in the relationship and remain free to leave it, consciously, with the support we need and deserve to defend our rights and manage our emotions.
